Announcing our Guest Speaker, Former Mariners' Catcher:
While in high school, Mike Marjama was encouraged to cut weight for the wrestling team. The pressure for weight loss led to the development of an eating disorder, exacerbated by excessive exercise and a severe decline in weight. Ultimately, Mike admitted to inpatient treatment for his eating disorder, missing the 2006 baseball season his junior year. Mike openly speaks about eating disorders to adults, adolescents, and families to help end the stigma and spread awareness. He also appears in a documentary about his experience on the UNINTERRUPTED multimedia platform for athletes.
Join The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness, in partnership with iaedp Tampa Bay, for the 3rd annual “celebrating everyBODY: a walk for eating disorders awareness.” Our theme for the walk this year is Not One More: not one more life lost, not one more child taken, and not one more precious moment destroyed by this insidious disease. More than 425 individuals attended last year’s walk, raising much needed funds for our local community. Help us continue to raise awareness and offer direct support to those struggling with eating disorders.
